  • International Hurricane Center - The International Hurricane Center is a State of Florida University System type one research center devoted to researching hurricane mitigation. The IHC's focus is on researching the social, economic, and technical factors producing vulnerability.
  • Magnesium in drinking water We are a clearinghouse for research from the FDA, NIH, NAS, and the California Dept. of Health concerning Mg in drinking water. We expect to save 215,000 lives per annum.
  • Medicine and Global Survival - M&GS publishes original articles, informed opinion and news about major threats to health and the environment as a result of conflict, environmental degradation, natural and technological disasters, and complex humanitarian crises.
 

Santa Barbara

Discover the city of Santa Barbara, California, the birthplace of Earth Day. A 1969 oil platform blowout off the coast of Santa Barbara led to a wave of environmental laws nationwide. That gave impetus to what we consider now the cornerstones to the modern environmental movement. A year later, the first Earth Day was held followed by the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. A succession of other laws protecting water, marine life and endangered species followed.
